Base Calculation Method
The Base Calculation Method determines what type of data is considered when deriving the ratios for the Pool allocations across the Base entries.
Options include:
Actual Amount --- Ratio value is calculated based on the sum of GL entries (debit - credit amounts) for each Base organization/account combination compared to the total of the sum for all Base line item entries.
The Post Rate to Cost Structures option should only be available when Actual Amount is selected.
Fixed Amount -- Ratio value is calculated based on the specific value entered for the noted organization/account combination compared to the total sum of Fixed Amount entries for all Base line item entries.
This option is verify similar to the Percent option in that no other values are accumulated.
It may be useful, for example, if you were allocating based on facilities square footage (and you didn't want to bother figuring out the percentages).
Hours -- Ratio value is calculated based on the sum of Hours associated with GL entries for the noted organization/account combination compared to the total of the sum for all Base line item entries.
Percent -- Ratio value is the specific Percent value entered.
When Percent is selected, the Base Amount values must total 100 in order to save the record.
See Calculation Process for more details regarding what is eligible to be included in the various Pool and Base amounts given Base Calculation Method.
