Cost Structure

The Cost Structure field is used to define a project's default indirect cost "Cost Structure".  This is an optional field editable on the project profile screen.  

The value in this field can be modified until expense actuals have been charged against this project (at which time you can no longer modify the value).  More specifically, the field will be modifiable until expenses have been charged against an expense type that is mapped to a cost element associated with this cost structure.

This list of available Cost Structures will include all Cost Structures defined by an Administrator via the Admin >> Setup >> Cost Structure screens.

This cost structure association will be used to determine ODC rating information as well as to determine which elements will be included when running various Project Costing reports for this project.   Only those projects having a Cost Structure defined will be included in the Project Costing report output.

Note:  This setting does not influence labor charging.  Labor Costs will be determined by each person charging to the project (either using an Assignment override Cost Element or the Person's default Cost Element).
