Display Controls
The controls included in the Display Controls section on the Summary tab, will influence general invoice format options, and may enable / disable other formatting capabilities. The controls within this section include:
- Show Charge Breakdown - This option controls whether specific charge details will be included on the invoice.
-
- When checked, the additional tabs (ie Labor, Expense, etc) become enabled for configuration and the resulting invoice will include details (other than just summary amounts).
-
- When generating an invoice, those sections that contain no data to be displayed, will not be included in the output.
- When unchecked, all tabs except the Summary and Sales Tax tabs will be disabled, and no detailed configuration information established on any of the other tabs will be preserved upon save.
- Show Tax Separately - This option allows for the Tax information to be configured and displayed separately on the invoice in its own section.
-
- When checked, those Additional Items having a tax account for any of its debit or credit accounts will be consolidated into a separate tax section.
-
- The Tax section will be displayed as the last section on the invoice.
- An additional sub-total, "Total Invoice Amount Before Tax", is displayed prior to the Tax section, and its value includes all charges from the invoice less those in the Tax section.
- The Tax section and its preceding sub-total are only displayed if there is at least one tax related Additional Item for the invoice, and the Tax section format includes at least one displayable attribute for a Tax item.
- Grouping has no effect on the Tax section.
- When unchecked, the Tax tab will be disabled, and no detailed configuration information established on that tab will be preserved upon save.

- Show Inception To Date Amount - This option will control whether an additional column will appear on the invoice containing inception to date amounts (in addition to the current period column). The Inception to Date amount contains both charges specific to the current period as well as all previous charges for the item billed under the invoice's current lead project. This is the same calculation as the Invoice To Date amount, however, it applies to a specific line item whereas the Invoice To Date is a single total.
-
- When checked:
-
- You will be prevented from saving any of the following options:
-
- Labor tab - Show Date and Show Comments
- Expense tab - Show Date and Show Comments
- Fixed Price tab - Show Bill Date and Show Like Named Items Individually
- Pre-Billed Labor tab - Show Bill Date and Show Like Named Items Individually
- An additional sub-total item, "Total Amount", will appear after the last invoice section and before the "Total Amount Due This Invoice".
- When unchecked, no additional column is included and the invoice will only include amounts specific to the current period.
- Show Invoice To Date Amount - This option will control whether an additional total line labeled "Total Amount Invoiced To Date" will appear as the last item on the invoice. The Invoice to Date amount contains both charges specific to the current period as well as all previous charges for the item billed under the invoice's current lead project. This is the same calculation as the Inception To Date amount, however, it applies to a single amount whereas the Inception To Date applies to individual line items.
- Show Outstanding AR Balance - This option will control whether an additional amount labeled "AR Balance" will show up at the bottom of the invoice. This value is calculated as the Invoiced To Date amount (including the charges from this invoice) for the lead project of this invoice less all Customer Payments applied to that amount that were posted prior to the creation of this invoice. "This" is referring to the invoice being edited/viewed.
This control and option will only be available when using a Financials license.
- Show Billing Period Dates Instead of Billing Through Date - If checked, the invoice header will display "Billing Period: From xx/xx/xxxx To xx/xx/xxxx" instead of "Billing Through: xx/xx/xxxx".
Regardless of what detailed sections you choose to include in your invoice format, the bottom line total amount due this invoice will remain the same.
