Labor Category Usage
This field will determine whether or not a Labor Category is required or allowed when charging time to a particular project. The current options include:
Yes. Time must have a labor category -- If you select this option, you'll notice that you have the option of specifying a labor category on the person assignments.
No. Time must not have a labor category -- If you select this option, you'll notice that you cannot specify a labor category on any person assignments. When users submit time to projects with this setting, no labor category information will be saved with the details. Also, if you change from another choice to No, the following will happen:
Existing Labor Category Assignments will be removed from all assignments on this project.
Existing Labor Category Assignments will be removed from all un-extracted time for this project.
The project settings for Bill & Cost Rate Source will be reset to default to the Person's rates.
Optional. Time may have a labor category -- This value will influence which options appear on the People Assignment screens and will also be interrogated during timesheet submittal validations. Changing this value to "Optional" will have the following affects:
Bill & Cost Rate Source will be reset to default to the Person's rates if your system is configured to hide the Labor Category on the timesheet.
Changing this setting will trigger re-rating, which may modify existing time entries associated with non-LOCKED, non-EXTRACTED time for this project.
