Parent Organization

The Parent Organization field is used to store the name of an associated parent organization.  When establishing a Parent Org relationship, only active orgs will appear in the resulting output.

Note that when defining a new set of Organizations, if you intend to define a hierarchy of organizations (ie you plan to populate the parent organization field), you will need to create the higher level organizations first (that is, the parent must first exist if you are trying to associate a child to it).

You can view the organization hierarchy via the Tree View Reports.

This relationship is currently honored in conjunction with the Organization Access feature, which allow you to grant access to people or project organizations to each user.  By associating a user with a particular organization, they will automatically have visibility into all children organizations as well.
