User Access
Self Plan -- Determines whether users can manage their own plans for this project (via the Time >> Plan screens). This attribute has three possible values:
Closed -- Projects having this setting will not permit users to view or manage plans.
Open -- For projects having this setting, existing plans (whether created by the user via Time >> Plan or by a Resource Planner) can be managed by the planned user.
Assign -- For project having this setting, existing plans (whether created by the user via Time >> Plan or by a Resource Planner) can be managed by the planned user, so long as the user also has an existing People Assignment for this project. If no existing people assignment exists, the user will not have any access to planning for this project.
This field will only appear on the Access tab if your site is licensed for the planning module.
Assign Self Plans -- Determines whether users can create actual assignments from Planned Work entries.
Resource Assigners should be aware that this effectively gives the user the ability to create or change assignment values specified by the Resource Planner. If the resource assigner needs to keep control over the assignment settings, this field should be set unchecked.
This setting is ignored if the Self Plan is not allowed for a particular project.
Users can make assignments from plans via the Time >> Plan screens.
This field will only appear on the Access tab if your site is licensed for the planning module.
Self Assign -- Describes whether any user can assign them self to this project (and thus, have access to apply time and or expenses to this project). If this value is unchecked, then the resource assigner will need to explicitly Assign People or Assign Organizations to this project -- otherwise the project will not show up in the user's drop-down lists of available projects.
If the Allow Self Assign to be set to default (unanet.project_self_assign.disabled) property is set to true, then this checkbox will be deselected by default. If this property is set to false, then this checkbox will be selected by default. You can override the setting on this page.
If a project is configured to allow Self Assignment, the user can facilitate making the project available for charging via the My Projects screen (this screen can be used to control which projects will appear in their timesheet or expense report drop-down lists).
Note that when users self assign, they cannot control any other assignment attributes (such as assignment dates, budget constraints, bill or cost rates, labor category constraints, etc.). If these types of attributes are required for charging to a project, the resource assigner will need to explicitly assign users and this setting should probably be unchecked.
Note about constraining time entry: If you have created explicit assignments for users, yet they can still enter time or expenses beyond the assignment date, check the Self Assign setting. When Self Assign is enabled, users can continue to charge to a project beyond an assignment end date. You might consider using the 'Enforce Project/Task Dates' option on the Project >> Budget tab if you need to constrain time and expense entry for Self Assign projects.
Note: When multi-entity accounting is enabled (see Setup Multi-Entity) and Intercompany Effort is set to "Yes" on the Project Profile tab, then Self Plan will be set to "Closed" and all three of these options will be disabled.
