The Skills selection criteria can be used to narrow down which skills will be included in the output.  By default, <All Skills> will be included in the output.  

If you do not want to include all Skills, you can use the Skills filter options and click on the filter icon () to narrow down the list of items in the multi-select box.  Once you have narrowed down the list, you can further select and de-select individual items in the multi-select box.

The options available to refine the items included in the multi-select box include:

• Skill Type and Skill Filter Fields

  You can use the Skill Type and Skill filter options to refine the entries included.  

  For example, if you only wanted to include people having DBA skills, you could supply DBA in the Skill Type filter field.  Further, if you only wanted to include Oracle Skills, you could also supply Oracle in the Skill filter field.  By supplying filter criteria to the Skill field only, you can search for all Skills that match your criteria across Skill Types.

• Show Skill Types in filter only check box

  This option will result in the multi-select box displaying a list of Skill Types.  All skills that are currently associated with a particular Skill Type  will be included in the multi-select box output.

When searching for users by skills, you can also choose to:

• List only people with ALL the selected skills -- Most multi-select selection criteria boxes will return matching rows for any of the selected items.  By choosing this option, you can instruct the system to return only those users that have all of the matching skills selected.

• Learn more about using Wildcards in your filter criteria (e.g. % for all)

  When entering filter criteria, the result set will include entries that match the first X characters entered in the filter criteria. The following characters can be entered as wild cards in the search selection criteria for certain fields:

  • % -- (percent sign) this character will match any number of characters --- for example: %net would match "Unanet", "Network", and "Basketball Net".  By default, the % sign is appended (but not displayed) to all entered filter criteria.  Thus entering "Una" alone or entering "Una%", would match: Unanet, UnaTime, Una$ense and UnaSource.

  • _ -- (underscore) this character will match any one character -- for example: X_Z would match "XYZ" and "XBZ" -- but not "XABZ"

  • You can also use a combination of these characters for complex matching --- for example:  U_an% would match Unanet

  Note that you may also specify more than one filter criteria by entering a comma separated list in the filter text box.  

  For example, to include all items that begin with a and c, format your filter criteria as:
  
  a,c

Note that after making any changes to the filter criteria, you will need to click on the filter icon () or enter to re-populate the select box.
